Children's House	Site is organised in ten "floors": early childhood, NGOs, child health, children’s rights, child research, learning, conferences, training, information resources and news. Development Gateway	An interactive site for information on development and poverty reduction, the Development Gateway Portal provides a space for communities [worldwide] to share experiences on development efforts. Search by keyword or browse by country or topics (aid effectiveness, gender and development, microfinance, water resources, etc) for knowledge sharing, completed and ongoing projects and business information. E-Library for Global Welfare	A collection of online resources for international and comparative policy analysis, research and teaching. This site is freely available on the Internet
Economic and Social Research Council	The ESRC Society Today site is a portal which includes news articles, interviews and focus pieces that highlught the role of social science research in society. There is also access to full text of ESRC research findings, a directory of researchers and details of funding opportunities. This site is freely available on the Internet.
ELDIS	ELDIS is the gateway to development information on the web. It maintains a collection of 18,000 full text online documents, over 30 subject-based resource guides and country briefings and profiles. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Epolitix	A UK political news service supplied by Parliamentary Communications Ltd. It provides to recent news from the House of Commons and House of Lords, including a section on Bills in progress. Also offers access to the full text of the weekly House Magazine which provides details of current Parliamentary activity and political commentary. Through its Forum it also gives access to companies', charities and voluntary sector organisations' government/public affairs microsites. Each microsite contains policy statements, manifestos, contact details and links. This site is freely available on the Internet.
European Library	The European Library webservice is a portal which offers access to the combined resources (books, magazines, journals.... - both digital and non-digital) of the 43 national libraries of Europe. Globalex	Offers a collection of guides to the legal systems of a range of countries maintained by New York University Law School. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Governments on the WWW	This database includes links to parliaments, executive agencies, law courts, embassies and consulates, and political parties. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Gov.uk	The main UK Government web portal, providing information for the citizen and hosting the corporate websites of most departments and agencies. These will give access to policy information and publications, including statistics and consultations. This site is freely available on the Internet.

Infomine	Is intended for the introduction and use of Internet/Web resources of relevance to academic staff, students and researchers at university level. It includes databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, listservs, and library catalogues in all disciplines including the social sciences. Intute Health and Life Sciences	Web database of filtered medical and health related websites. Largely oriented towards clinical medicine, it does also include links to sites concerned with economics, statistics and management. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Intute Social Sciences	This is the leading online catalogue of high quality Internet resources aimed at researchers and practitioners in the social sciences, business and law. All resources are selected, evaluated and described by experts. The catalogue can be browsed or searched by subject. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Jurist World Law	Site offers guides to the legal sytems of a range of jurisdictions. In the "From our foreign corrsepondent pages", legal experts comment on recent developments in their home countries. This site is freely available on the Internet.
King’s Fund	An independent healthcare charity working primarily to improve the health of Londoners through research and development work. Also maintains a very comprehensive set of links covering NHS and UK government sites, policy and research organisations and subject specific sites in field arranged alphabetically under broad subject headings. Lawlinks	Annotated list of websites compiled by the Law Library of the University of Kent at Canterbury. This site is freely available on the Internet.

OFFSTATS: Official Statistics on the Web	Country lists give links to web pages provided by statistical offices, central banks and government departments whereas the topics list is comprised of links to the statistics pages of inter-governmental organisations. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Oultwood	Links to local authority websites in the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Southern Ireland. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Parline Database	Includes general information on each of the Parliament’s Chambers, a description of the electoral system, results of the most recent elections, information on the presidency of each chamber, information on the mandate and status of members of Parliament, and links to the Parliament’s website. Pinakes	The Pinakes site maintained by Heriot-Watt University provides links to major subject gateways compiled by the UK Electronic Libraries Project and other bodies. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Ploteus	The section on education systems provides detailed information on the national education and training systems of all member states from primary to post-graduate level. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Police Services of the UK	Official list of police forces and police related organisations. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Political Science Resources	Attempts to provide links to the most significant political science websites. This site is freely available on the Internet.

Sociosite	Based at the University of Amsterdam, this is the best and most comprehensive listing of sociological sites on the web so far found. Follow the links to subject areas, journals and libraries. This site is freely available on the Internet.
University of Michigan Documents Center	Gives links to US Federal Government, Foreign Governments, International Agencies, US State and local governments. This site is freely available on the Internet.
USGPO-Access	The official US Government Printing Office’s gateway to Federal government information. Gives quick links providing direct access to the Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, US Code, Congressional Record, Documents and Reports, Congressional Hearings, GAO reports, Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents, Public Laws, Bills, etc. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Virtual Library	The VL is the oldest catalogue of the Web and is run by a loose confederation of volunteers. It can be searched by keyword or browsed using alphabetical subject headings. It covers all subjects, including the social sciences. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Vox	Portal containing full-text analysis and comment articles from some of Europe's leading economists. It is run the by Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and has an archive that is searchable by tag, subject, author or keyword. Users can subscribe to RSS feeds to be alerted to new content, and registered users can comment on articles. This site is freely available on the Internet.
