UK comedy with a West African flavour headlined by one of Britain’s favourite stand-ups Gina Yashere
A fantastic night of laughs from some of our finest comedy talent and headlined by one of Britain’s favourite stand-ups, Gina Yashere. She is joined by the fantastic Funmbi Omotayo, with his laid back, but razor sharp lines on life in London and Nigeria and star MC on the night is Kojo, ‘the Fresh Prince of Hackney’.
The ticket price includes a free bottled beer, glass of wine or soft drink. Please collect your token from the box office in the British Library Conference Centre and redeem it from the bar between 18.00 and 18.45. Drinks may not be taken into the auditorium.

Born and raised in London UK, of Nigerian parents, Gina made her comedy debut at the Edinburgh Festival in 1997. The show sold out almost immediately and overnight both audiences and critics were smitten. She went on to become a hugely popular live performer and appear on TV shows such as Live At The Apollo and Mock The Week.
She broke onto the American comedy scene with her appearances on Last Comic Standing, where she made it to the final ten, and then never went home! Gina became the only British comedian to ever appear on the iconic Def Comedy Jam, and is seen regularly The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as Madame Yashere, The Surly Psychic, on The Nightly Show on Comedy Central and her own Stand Up Special on Showtime, Skinny B*tch. She continues to tour globally, and recently shot Gina Yashere: Ticking Boxes, at the 02 Academy, Brixton in front of over 2000 of fans.
With his trademark charm and charismatic style, Funmbi has seen himself a brilliant 2015. Having most recently performed on The John Bishop Show (BBC One), Funmbi will shortly be appearing on The Blame Game (BBC One Northern Ireland) as well as being a regular guest on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Now! (ITV2).
He will also be embarking on a miniature tour during Spring 2016, following the success of his sold-out Edinburgh show Funmbi Omotayo: Legal Immigrant. The show follows Funmbi‘s childhood travels, from London to Lagos and back again, highlighting the hilarious stories that have come from him feeling like a fish out of water.
An East Londoner of Ghanaian descent, Kojo is an actor, writer, radio host and a star of the urban comedy scene. He has worked with comedians such as Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Kevin Hart; he has hosted the official UK tour of Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam Tour and appeared to huge success on the hit US series Last Comic Standing. From 2005 Kojo presented CBBC show The Mighty Truck of Stuff alongside Reggie Yates. He has appeared on MTV & MTV Base with The Fresh Prince of Hackney, The Young Gods of Comedy, Wild N Out, and two series of his own show, Kojo’s Comedy Funhouse. From 2011 - 2014, Kojo presented a nationwide Breakfast Show on Capital Xtra and now has his own Saturday morning show on the radio station. He made his acting debut in Noel Clarke’s romantic comedy The Knot.
