Have you ever wanted to delve into Divination, ponder the peculiarities of Potions and discover enchanting creatures? Now you can.

We unveil rare books, manuscripts and magical objects from the British Library’s collection, capturing the traditions of folklore and magic which are at the heart of the Harry Potter stories. Marvel at original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling and illustrator Jim Kay, both on display for the first time.

Our free sessions for UK Primary and Secondary schools take learners on an activity-led journey into the gallery, developing literacy and creativity and supporting cross-curricular learning. They will encounter myth and magic through the ages and experience extraordinary collection items and rarely seen objects up close.

For the first time we are offering exclusive schools-only sessions in the gallery. This is the perfect opportunity to bring a class or a whole year group to the British Library to see this truly magical exhibition. Places for Secondary schools are also available.

Please note, sessions are free but a cancellation policy applies.

We expect this exhibition to be very popular with schools. We recommend you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. See the calendar for dates and times of school sessions, which are on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays at fixed times.

In partnership with Bloomsbury.
