Practical and inspiring open days for first year PhD students

The British Library’s unique collections offer huge potential for social science researchers. The vast and varied collections include books, journals, government and legal documents, reports, oral history interviews, magazines and broadcast news.

Our collections are international and include research materials from across the globe in numerous languages. We collect born-digital material, including UK domain websites which are available for research purposes onsite.

At this introductory event you will learn about these collections and will discover how to unlock their potential for your research. From anthropology to socio-legal studies, from sociology to economics, from health studies to business and management, you will find resources here that are unavailable elsewhere.  The day is an opportunity to meet with our expert staff and other researchers across the social sciences.

To make the most of your day, you may wish to register for a free Reader Pass before the event.

Our annual series of Doctoral Open Days is aimed at first year PhD students who are new to the Library. Each day focuses on one aspect of the Library’s collections. You are welcome to attend the day you will find most useful to you.  Lunch and refreshments are provided. BOOKING ESSENTIAL
