Copyright

We are usually entrusted by copyright owners to make copies of wildlife and environmental sounds for non-commercial purposes on their behalf, without the need to obtain prior permission, however exceptions do exist. Staff will be able to advise on copyright issues associated with recordings in the collection.

The Library is unable to involve itself directly in discussions with copyright holders.

Requesting a recording

Please submit an application form listing the sound recordings you require. The form should be downloaded and returned to us by post or email.

You must state your proposed use of the material. Please note that the use of copies for commercial purposes is normally subject to the copyright holder’s permission and may involve further charges.

We will advise of the cost before any copying work is started.

If you are unable to find the recording you require on the Sound and Moving Image Catalogue, have any questions regarding the application form, or would like to submit a completed application form, please contact the Wildlife Section using the contact details below.
