Photos of the Iraq National Library 2003–08

These photographs were taken by Dr Saad Eskander, the head of the Iraq National Library and Archive. He became known in 2006-07 for his online diary about library life in Baghdad. They show the damage done to the library during the conflict that took place in Baghdad before and during that period, and its recovery to a functioning organisation again, thanks to the efforts of its staff.

They were shown by Dr Eskander in a presentation he gave at the British Library in December 2008 when he received an Honorary Fellowship from the library organisation CILIP. More details
