The Police Gazette

These excerpts are taken from the front page of the Police Gazette on 22 January 1841. The Police Gazette was issued by the police to help them fight crime. The Gazette invited the public to report crimes and offer rewards for information leading to conviction.
It is unknown how effective the Gazette was in tackling crime, but it was widely read and many reports were placed by members of the public.
