Newey’s Snap Fasteners

Background

This advertisement for Newey's snap fastenings (press studs or poppers) and hair pins (clips) comes from the period just after the First World War. The illustrations show a a maid in uniform helping a woman with her hair and dress. The woman looks into a mirror in one picture and holds a fan in the other. The text refers to the coronation of Queen Mary, which took place in 1911.
