This early 19th century smuggler's song is entitled 'Will Watch, the Bold Smuggler'. It tells the tale of a smuggler who promises his lover that if his next journey is successful, he will mend his ways and 'anchor ashore'. But 'in the haze of the night' the authorities catch up with his ship, and Will is shot. Following his wishes, the crew bury him on the beach in the dead of night.
