The photo-book Not Everything is Black and White is the outcome of a Young Researchers project that took place at the British Library in January 2008. Fifteen young adults (age 16-18) met weekly at the Library for half day sessions for a period of 9 weeks led by fine art photographer Chino Otsuka, Pearson Creative Research Fellow at the British Library 2007-2008. They explored the exhibition Breaking the Rules: The Printed Face of the European Avant Garde 1900-1937, and took part in a series of creative workshops that explored Avant Garde design, writing and photography. They also met curators and other creative practitioners pushing the boundaries of avant garde today.
