Exhibition of a rhino and zebra

  • Intro

This is a handbill advertising the exhibition of a rhinoceros, a zebra and an alpaca. Regular exhibitions of imported exotic animals could be seen in taverns and assembly rooms in cities around the county. Animals, never before seen in Britain, were often brought to the country on trading ships from Asia or Africa, and then shown to the public for a few pennies.
