It is extremely unusual for cosmology, as opposed to astronomy or space exploration, to dominate a front page. But The Independent has always taken a different view of what makes front-page news.

The report discusses the Big Bang theory that started our universe, well presented here by scientific editors Susan Watts and Tom Wilkie with an imaginative graphic. In addition to The Independent, only the Daily Mail and Evening Standard ran the story, with the latter devoting only a small column to the report. |
