Google Earth downloads

We've taken a selection of maps featured in the London: A Life in Maps exhibition and converted them into a Google Earth layer. Take a look at London as you've never seen it before by following the instructions below:

1. Download and install Google Earth (if you don't already have it, it's free from Google. NB: requires broadband internet connection).

2. Launch Google Earth on your PC

3. Open the London: A Life in Maps layer (KMZ file; 3.4MB. This will open the layer in Google Earth - it may take a few moments to load)

Alternatively, you can use the following links to load each map from the layer into Google Earth one at a time:

Map of Deptford, 1623
Survey of Shoreditch, 1745
Survey of Islington, 1753
Plan of London Docks, 1797
Improvements at Charing Cross, 1826
Regents Park, 1841
Victoria Park, 1841
Plan of Paddington, 1842
Parish of Kensington, 1851
Underground Railways map, 1907

NB: the above links require Google Earth to be installed on your PC
