Merlin Holland introduces the feature film
The
Trials of Oscar Wilde
On the anniversary of Wildes death, 100 years ago this week, his
grandson introduces the best-known and probably the best of the biopics,
The Trials of Oscar Wilde (PG;1960; 123 minutes). Directed by
Ken Hughes and based on The Stringed Lute by
John Furnell and The Trials of Oscar Wilde by Montgomery Hyde,
it stars Peter Finch and Lionel Jeffries. Peter Finch won a BAFTA
for his performance.
Merlin
Holland will give a short introduction, and will answer questions from
the audience.
