A Tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother 1900 - 2002
1947: State Visit to Africa - the Queen's wardrobe
"DRESSES FOR THE ROYAL TOUR. THE QUEEN'S WARDROBE
.Blue figures largely in the Queen's wardrobe, which has been designed by Norman Hartnell. A navy-blue-crepe dress, trimmed with white pique, contrasts with another in white tweed crepe, trimmed navy-blue with panelled pleating in skirt, and a long navy-blue thin wool coat lined with white pique will be worn with a white and navy hat..
The Queen's evening clothes include a cyclamen crepe ensemble, the dress of which has a short train lightly draped to the hip and held by clusters of cyclamen-pink parma violets.."
