A handbill issued by a specialist dealer in London c.1800. The ‘Writers Necessaries’ handbill features a long list of items recommended for East India company staff on their first trip overseas. It is an interesting insight into the travelling requirements of a typical Gentleman. It includes a travelling-cap and a pair of pistols.
