Pen and ink plan of a house in Bhuj, Kutch District, Gujarat, by an anonymous artist working in the Western India/Cutch style, c. 1851. Inscribed on the front in ink: 'Ground plan of our house Bhooj 1851'; also inscribed with names of rooms and key to plan.

Bhuj was the capital of the former princely state of Kutch, located in the Western part of Gujarat. It is an old walled town full of palaces, pavilions and highly decorated Hindu temples. This drawing is the ground plan of the bungalow of the Bombay Army officer Thomas Chase Parr and his wife Harriet. The house has a two-storeyed addition with an elaborately decorated balcony on one side. These two drawings are most likely by the same artist.
