Watercolour of Mr. Havell's bungalow in Danapur from 'Views by Seeta Ram from Patna to Benares Vol. II' produced for Lord Moira, afterwards the Marquess of Hastings, by Sita Ram between 1814-15. Lord Moira, the Governor-General of Bengal and the Commander-in-Chief (r. 1813-23), was accompanied by artist Sita Ram (flourished c.1810-22) to illustrate his journey from Calcutta to Delhi between 1814-15.

Mr. John Havell lived outside the Danapur cantonments. Havell produced cured meats at his farm, which was sold in Calcutta, and also experimented in wine production. View of Mr. Havell's own bungalow in its garden, with the masts of boats seen above the far trees as visited by Lord Moira in 1814. Inscribed below: "Fame' [farm] 'House belonging to the same."
