Watercolour of the Commandant's camp near Surguja in the Central Provinces, by an anonymous artist working in the Calcutta style, part of the Gilbert Collection, c. 1825. Inscribed in nagari characters: 'Chal'; in English: 'Chal-near Sugoojer'; on the back: 'Chaul.'

This drawing shows tents under a great tree with horses, elephants, bullock carts, servants and villagers in the foreground. A palanquin and tonjaun are depicted beside the tents.
