Temple of Ram Chaura
Watercolour of the temple of Ram Chaura, by an anonymous artist working in the Patna style, part of the Hyde collection, c. 1810. Inscribed on the front in ink: 'Inside View of the Temple of Ram-Choura;' on the back in ink: 'Inside View of the Temple of Ram Choura with Females Offerings of Flowers previous to their Devotions at the Shrine before the Priests of the Temple.'
This drawing shows the view inside the courtyard of the temple with men and women making offerings to the shrine. Temple offerings are presented to shrines as a way of worshiping and giving thanks to the Hindu deities.
