Pencil and wash of Mau by Thomas (1749-1840) and William (1769-1837)Daniell, c.7-10 January 1790. Inscribed on the front in pencil is: '88; Mow'; and on the back in ink: '27.'

Mau is an ancient town on the Tons River in Uttar Pradesh. During the reign of Shah Jahan he bestowed the town upon his daughter Jahanara and it received special royal favour.
