The Pedanaikdurgum Pass runs through the Eastern Ghats and is guarded by a fort which was strategically important during the Anglo-Mysore Wars. British troops cleared the pass in March 1791 and camped here on the way from Amboor to Vencatighery where they were joined by a large force made up of approximately 5,000 men.
