View of Colgong (Bihar) from the River Ganges with a European bungalow on a hill
Water-colour drawing of a view of Colgong in Bihar, dated c.1790. Inscribed on mount in water-colour: 'View of Colgong'; on back in pencil: 'View of Colgong. No. 1.'
This view depicts the vivid green landscape of the Colgong Hills where the current of the river Ganges is very strong. There is a simple European bungalow on the top.
Colgong was situated along the river route followed by most artists travelling in North India, until the coming of the railways in the nineteenth century.
