Folio 77 inscribed in pen and ink: 'Ancient Sculptures carved on a temple at Amrutpore in the District of Turrykeira in Bednore, 1805. On the left hand of the Principal Entrance' from an album of 156 drawings (185 folios) chiefly of architecture and sculpture in S. India, dated 1803-08. The drawings depict specimens of architecture and sculpture mainly from Kolar, Sravana Belagola, Conjeeveram, Shimoga, Halebid and Amritapura. Some drawings are by MacKenzie himself, others by his assistant surveyors and draftsmen, including H. Hamilton and J. Newman. This folio is the title page that precedes the series of drawings of the narrative relief panels of the Ramayana carved on the open hall of the Hoysala Amriteshvara Temple at Amritapura.
