Watercolour by James Arden Crommelin (1801-1893) of a water-spout at Kanthi in the Midnapore District of West Bengal, dated 1st September 1822. The image is inscribed on the back in ink: 'Water spout as observed and drawn from Contai East bedroom by C R C & Ja(mes) on the 1st of Septr 1822-1ooking to the East to the Sea. From James to his Father with Affecte Love, Sept. 18th, 1822'. There is also a note on waterspouts on the back of the sheet.
