Pencil and wash drawing of a stele showing the Buddha seated in teaching mood, with two robed attendants, dated 15 December 1788. Inscribed on front in pencil: 'Brahmin? At Deeah.'

Deeah is a village near the ancient site of Jusi, opposite Allahabad. This drawing depict a figure of Buddha in the dharmachakra mudra (turning of the wheel of law) or the posture of the preaching of the Buddhist law; in this posture both hands are pressed against the breast, the thumb and the index finger are joined together to form a circle and the left hand is lowering the right hand.
