Pen and ink drawing by Frederic Peter Layard (1818-1891) from an earlier sketch of 28th June 1841, of an unidentified location in the Punjab in Pakistan, dated 1843. The image is inscribed: 'Ruins of Nadu Shah's Sarae at Kote-Kuchhua. Elehd (?) on the River Suttledge. Octr. 1843. F.P. Layard Sketd. 28th June 1841'. A caravanserai is a resting place for travellers or merchants on long journeys between large cities and on main trade routes.
