This is plate 4 from 'Hindoostan Scenery consisting of Twelve Select Views in India' by Francis Jukes (1746-1812) and Thomas Anburey (1759-1840), members of the Corps of Engineers in Bengal.

Nizam Ali Khan was as an ally of the British in the Third Mysore War against Tippu Sultan, the Raja of Mysore. In 1798 the Nizam found that he was surrounded, except in the west, by territory ruled by or dependent upon the British. He was forced to enter into an agreement placing his country under British protection, becoming the first Indian prince to do so.
