Plate nineteen from '24 Views in Indostan by William Orme'. This aquatint is based on a picture by William Orme (fl.1790-1825) and Thomas Daniell (1749-1840). The Motijharna is a waterfall in the Rajmahal Hills of West Bengal. It is visible between the two hills in the distance. The text accompanying this picture says that '[t]his scene is situated about 200 miles from Calcutta, and is well known to travellers. The Rajemahl Hills form a boundary to the river Ganges. Rajemahl was formerly the capital of one of the kings of Bengal, the ruins of whose palace still remain.'
