Plate three from 'Picturesque Scenery in the Kingdom of Mysore' by James Hunter (d.1792). This aquatint is based on a picture by Hunter, and depicts the tomb of Haider Ali, the king of Mysore, who died in 1782. The Mausoleum was built at Srirngapattnam, and is situated in a Cypress Garden which allegedly contained varieties of flowering plants from Kabul, Persia, Mauritius and Turkey. These plants were gathered by Haider Ali's son and successor, Tipu Sultan.
