Plate twenty five from 'Picturesque Scenery in the Kingdom of Mysore' by James Hunter (d.1792). This aquatint is based on an original composition by Hunter, and depicts a large tank just outside of Sriperumbudur, which is today called the Chembarambakkam Tank. Sriperumbudur, which is roughly thirty kilometres inland from Chennai (Madras), is best known as the birthplace of the 11th Century Vaishnava philosopher, Ramanuja.
