This view of Budrawar in Chumba District of the modern-day Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh was taken by Samuel Bourne in the 1860s. It shows a general view of the village with deodar forests and apple orchards in the background and figures in the foreground. Chumba District was ruled over from the tenth century by the Pahari kings and is famed for its numerous Hindu temples. It is also the one of the starting points for the Yatra pilgrimages of Hindus travelling to holy sites high up in the Himalaya.
