Bandstand, in the public park [Vadodara]
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of the bandstand in the public park at Baroda, Gujarat from the Curzon Collection, taken by an unknown photographer during the 1890s. The park, known as the Sayaji Bagh, was situated on the outskirts of the city on the banks of the winding river Vishvamitri. It was designed and laid out in the late 19th century by an English landscape architect attached to the State Public Works Department. Climbing plants have been trained over the roof of the bandstand and there are topiary bushes in front. The park also contained a museum and art gallery, zoo, tennis courts, and pavilions.
