This photograph of Christ Church from 'The Lucknow Album: containing a series of fifty photographic views of Lucknow,' was taken by Darogha Abbas Ali c.1874. General Hutchinson built this church as a memorial to those who died in the Uprising of 1857. During the Seige of Lucknow, approximately 3000 British inhabitants took refuge within the Residency Complex with Sir Henry Lawrence, the Chief Commissioner (1806-1857).
