This photograph of a Buddha statue was taken by Thomas Fraser Peppé in 1870 and is part of the collection of Sir Richard Carnac Temple. Descriptive notes by Peppé accompanying the collection of photographs read as follows, 'The place is nearly west from Nair, about six miles. There are large mounds there, and a very fine standing statue of Sakya Singha as a teacher with Buddhist creed in an inscription round his head...'
