Photograph of the Dackhul Durwazah in Gaur. This late 15th century structure formed the main entrance to the citadel at Gaur. According to Alfieri, the gateway was originally flanked by two towers which were five storeys high and measured 18.5 metres in width. Inside the entrance was a vaulted passage with thick walls and four doors. The exterior was decorated with terracotta ornaments in the form of rosettes, hanging lamps, flaming suns, relief borders and other designs.
