Photograph of the exterior of the Buddhist Chaitya Hall at Bedsa, Pune District, taken by Henry Cousens in 1879, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections. The Buddhist caves at Bedsa were excavated during the Satavahana period in the1st century. This view is taken from the passage cut through the rocks looking towards the chaitya in Cave 7. The verandah has four large octagonal columns with a carved pair of animals ridden by couples on top. The interior is plain compared to the richly carved exterior.
