Photograph of the fa├žade of the old mosque at Tribeni in West Bengal, taken by Joseph David Beglar in c. 1872-73. This image shows the arches which have been partly bricked up and the overgrown trees which lend the building a picturesque aspect. The ruined mosque is situated twenty yards to the west of Zafar Khan's dargah (tomb), which at this time was a weekly pilgrimage site and also the location of an annual fair. Beglar wrote in his report for the Archaeological Survey of India (1872-73) that the nearby dargah had been built using material that had once been a Hindu temple. The mosque is constructed using baked brick with masonry facing and pillars of locally-quarried black basalt.
