The town of Jamnagar, historically called Nawanagar, was founded by Jam Rawal as his capital in 1540 and was one of the most important princely states of Saurashtra. This is a view of the facade of the Palace showing the perforated stonework on the arches over the windows and the balconies with detailed carvings contrasting with the plain red tiled roof.
