Photograph of the Nilakantha Mahadeva temple, Sunak taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s. Sunak is located in the modern state of Gujarat. The Nilakantha Mahadeva Temple consists of a shrine and an open hall or mandapa with an entrance porch before it facing the east. The shikara or spire is complete as well as the roof of the mandapa. The outer walls are of the shrine are decorated with elaborate mouldings and Shaivaite sculptures. An inscription on a pillar dates the construction of the temple to Samvat 1356. This temple is is an excellent state of preservation unlike the other sanctuary at Sunak.
