Photograph of the Mehtar Mahal mosque in Bijapur, Karnataka, from Archaeological Survey of India Collections taken in the 1880s by Henry Cole. The Mehtar (Mihtar) Mosque is a small building with a triple-arched facade from which projects a beautiful cornice supported by finely worked corbels. The roof is flat without a dome and the corner minarets are plainly rounded off at the top. The mosque is entered through an elegant gateway, the Mehtar Mahal which dates from 1620, the epoch of Ibrahim Adil Shah II (r.1580-1627).
