Cousens described the structure in this photograph shortly after it was taken in 1897 : "The remains of an old temple, with very plainly moulded wall, on the Sonai stream, about a mile south of the village, called Tapesvara." The Tapeshvara Temple consists of a sanctum and a sabha mandapa or hall, supported by sixteen columns. Both sides of the entrance are well carved.
