General view of Sabathu
Medium: Photographic print
Photgraph of Sabathu, near Simla, from the Elgin Collection: 'Spring Tours 1894-98', taken in the 1890s. Sabathu was a hill cantonment, some 23 miles from Simla. This is a general view, taken from the fort, of the military post with the parade ground in the centre. Sabathu was used as a military post since the end of the Gurkha war of 1816, and British troops were stationed there.
