Photograph from the Vibart Collection, of the Government House at Calcutta taken by an unknown photographer about 1865.View from the Ochterlony Monument, looking north-west towards Government House and the Town Hall, with the river Hooghly in the distance.Captain Charles Wyatt, the architect of the new Government House, based his designs on Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire. The lower storey of Government House has an arcade with Ionic columns, on the north side is a portico with a large staircase, under which carriages drove to the entrance and on the south side there is a circular colonnade with a dome.
