General view of the Falls of Gokak, Konnur, Belgaum District
Photographer: Burgess, James
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of the Gokak falls at Konnur in Belgaum District, taken by James Burgess around 1874. The Gokak falls are created by the Ghataprabha River that takes a 170-ft leap over a sandstone cliff in a picturesque gorge with a horse-shoe shape. On the sides of the river there are several Chalukya medieval temples from the 11th - 12th centuries.
