Photograph of the Vyaghreshvari Temple at Dhenuj, Gujarat, taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections. The Vyaghresvari temple, undated, is located in the southern section of Dhenuj [Dhinoj] in northern Gujarat near Patan. The Vyaghresvari temple is dedicated to the patron goddess of the Sonis (goldsmiths) and of the Mesri Srimali Vaniyas. The temple has been largely rebuilt; the low screen wall around the mandapa and the pillars are part of the original structure. The screen wall or vedi is richly carved with floral patterns alternating with compartments containing Shaiva figures.
