Photograph of the Awasghar Temple at Midnapur in West Bengal, taken by Walter Campbell in c. 1869. This temple, a square structure with curved cornices, four corner towers and a larger central tower, is typical of the 'pancha-ratna' or five spire temple. It is one of many in the Midnapur District. Walter Campbell, of the Bengal Police Department, took seventeen photographs of architecture in the Midnapur District for the Archaeological Survey of India.
