Photograph of the Old Jami masjid from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s. This mosque was built in 1551 by Ibrahim I (r.1535-58) and is one of the earlier religious structures of the Adil Shahis at Bijapur. This is a view looking across the court towards the triple-arched screen of the mosque. It has brick and mortar minarets over the corners and central piers. Henry Cousens wrote: ''The most notable feature...is the tall minars over the central piers of the fa├žade...''.
