Caption notes with the album read, "The Darya Daulat or 'Garden of the Wealth of the Sea', is a summer palace which was Tipu's favorite retreat from business. Its graceful proportions, and the arabesque work in rich colours in which it is covered from first to last, from top to bottom, render it very attractive and recall the palaces of Ispahan, and resemble no other building in all India." Ispahan was the beautiful sixteenth-century capital of Persia, famous for its richly decorated palaces.
