View looking west along the Mula River from the Fitzgerald Bridge towards the Jamsetji Bund, with the Bund Gardens on the left, from the Lee-Warner Collection: 'Bombay Presidency' taken by an unknown photographer in the 1870s. The bund, or dam, across the river was completed in 1853 by Captain Studdert R.E in order to provide water for the poorer citizens of the city. It was financed by the Parsi philanthropist, Sir Jamsetji Jeejeebhoy (1783-1859) after whom it was named. The bridge and garden were designed by Colonel Sellon.
